Elliot: A new kids’ book about the foster system

Written by Julie Pearson (an adoptive mother) and illustrated by Manon Gauthier, Elliot is a gentle guide to the foster child system from a kid’s point of view. Elliot’s parents love him, but when he starts crying and misbehaving they don’t know what to do.
That’s when Elliot meets a social worker named Thomas, who helps him find a new family. But that family doesn’t work out, so off Elliot goes to another home.
“Thomas said he would look for a new family for Elliot?
a forever, forever family.
Elliot understood that this was important news. And it worried him so much that he wanted to cry, yell, and misbehave.” Elliot eventually finds a forever, forever home and a family who loves and cares for him.
The book tackles a complex issue in an approachable and kid-friendly way with adorable bunny characters and soft collage illustrations. It’s a must-read.
