Dinky, the Welsh pony describes a day at Hanford School in Dorset, in his own words!
Dinky has been at Hanford School in Dorset for over seven years. His full name is Dinky Wernderris Ivor. He is an 11.2 hands Welsh pony of distinguished pedigree.
?My day starts early, I am often up at dawn. In fact I am up all night, as I like to sleep standing up. At 7am during term, girls will come out and catch me from my field to bring me in for breakfast.
?This is one of the best meals of the day so I like to make room for it by doing a few poos. After all this eating I have a little snooze and wait for the beauty therapists.
?Hanford girls love grooming ponies. Every day one of them will sort out my barnet. I?m a natural redhead with Celtic ancestry, so bad hair days are all too frequent. ?After all this excitement the girls head off to lessons. Some days I am visited by the dentist, known at Hanford as the tooth fairy ? but believe me, there is nothing magical about having your teeth filed. My favourite visitor is the farrier, Ken, who does a wonderful mani-pedi and knows just how to fit my delicate hooves.

?I may be the smallest pony at Hanford, but I think I have the most important role. I am the steed the youngest girls learn to ride on, so it?s a big responsibility.
