How Godolphin and Latymer School won the Special Award for Outstanding Response to COVID-19 2021
While this award cstegory isn’t returning for our 2022 awards, we thought it was important that we shone a light on Godolphin and Latymer School who deservingly won the Special Award for Outstanding Response to COVID-19 in the school years 2020-2021. Here’s how they came on top out of over 700 applicants.
Despite unprecedented challenges and disruption students, staff, parents and alumnae of Godolphin and Latymer School showed great generosity of spirit, energy and commitment in their efforts to stay connected and to support each other and the wider community.
The new outreach Bridge programme quickly moved online with nearly 40 primary state school students logging-on to sessions via live Google Meets using iPads that the school had provided where necessary. The Higher Education Undiscovered Subjects event, introducing university subjects not normally taught in schools, was relaunched as a series of 30 – 40-minute online lectures which were well attended by students from Godolphin and Latymer School’s state partner senior schools.
Debating continued to flourish online: Godolphin hosted debating workshops for Year 7 and 8 pupils from local state schools and teams regularly competed remotely against other teams including schools from
the US and Spain.
The school’s Ancient World Breakfast Club, with over 200 members from the local West London community, moved online which allowed Godolphin to introduce speakers from across the world...
