How to Apply for a Bursary and Scholarship
If you want to save on the school fees, a bursary or scholarship will ease the burden, writes Irenie Manfredi

Who can Apply"
Many children apply for bursaries in a school year, so demand for support and bursary requests cannot be guaranteed. However, don?t let that put you off ? if you think your financial circumstances qualify and your child has something special to offer the school, your application will be seriously considered.
Who to Call"
The first step is to call the admissions office, or look on the school website, to see if bursaries are offered at your child?s point of entry. Many schools offer fee assistance from seven-plus, others only at 11+ upwards. Do your research: a bursary is more likely to be offered from 11+ if the school has a senior school campus, or a sixth form, but a prep school, which ends at 13+ is more likely to offer bursaries from seven-plus. A good call to make would be to the bursar?s office to see whether you can be sent the bursary policy and a form.
