How to Help your Child on A-level Results Day

A-level Results Day is almost here ? the culmination of everything your child has been working on over the last two years, or, if you want to be more dramatic, the start of the rest of their life. So what can you, as their parent, do to help them through it"
Your child’s school should have informed you of how the results will be published, but if not, now is the time to find out ? some will be opening their doors on the big day, while others will be publishing grades online. If you aren’t in the country, make sure your child has access to a phone, in case they need to speak to universities or advisers at school. They got the grades!
If the results meet the conditions of their first-choice university, then it?s champagne all round and your child can pat themselves soundly on the back. If their results are better than the conditions of the firm offer, there is a system called Adjustment, which allows students to apply for courses that they may not have otherwise considered.
Students can register for this within the UCAS Track system and apply for one course at a time. After they register, they’ll find that there is no official list of available courses ? instead, they must find a course they like using the UCAS course-search tool, then call the university to ask if they have a space...
