Results day 2022 will see the first set of GCSE and A-level results awarded to pupils since the pandemic took hold back in 2020.?Â
With A-level results expected this week and GCSEs next week, Simon Winchester, the Academic Director at the independent day and boarding school in Bushey, has shared some useful tips and advice for pupils and parents to help them to prepare for the day when it comes.
How to Prepare for A-level and GCSE Results Day
With adjustments to coursework, foresight of key topics and advance notification and provision of materials, many steps have been taken to level the playing field for pupils returning to official examinations this year.? In 2019, around 20% of all GCSE grades were at grade 7 and above.? In 2021, when candidates were awarded Teacher Assessed Grades, this rose to around 30%. Ofqual?s intention is to gradually return the examination standard to pre-pandemic levels, with this summer?s results pitched at a halfway point between 2019 and 2021. This means results day 2022 should see pupils graded more generously than in 2019, but less generously than in 2021.Â
