?We are called ?independent? schools for a reason: we can deliver an education we believe to be right for our cohort of pupils: not simply do what has always been done, or what everyone else is doing.
?I believe that schools should be future-focused, in a world that is rapidly changing beyond the school gates. Futurists say society and the workplace will be more fluid, less certain; the job for life will dwindle; 50% of jobs potentially available for today?s children in their adult lives have not been invented; technology will be king; core attributes of resilience, problem solving, creative thinking, collaboration and communication will be key. We have seen much of this in the Covid months. ?Bickley Park has been a boys? only 13+ school since 1918. Our teachers enjoy teaching boys and engage with their world. An education system that tacitly expects compliance and conformity can diminish a boys? engagement with learning. The question: ?What?s in it for me"? is amplified in a boys? head: if a compelling answer can be provided, the passion for learning is stoked.
