Knightsbridge School: Imagining a New Kind of Education

 There is no doubt that we have moved a long way from Gradgrind?s ?Facts, facts, facts!? in education. While few would argue that education?s primary purpose is to help pupils acquire the knowledge to pass the exams and reach the next stage, most teachers and parents would acknowledge that there is far more to an excellent education than that.
The 21st century workplace is moving fast, evolving at an unprecedented rate alongside the development of newer, faster, better technology. Increased automation and greater scope for remote and flexible working have further changed the employment landscape and the knowledge required to be successful in it.
Children currently at school are unlikely to enjoy just one career; indeed, the roles they may one day fill may not yet even exist. With such uncertainty, skills such as adaptability, resilience, knowing how to communicate and work within a team, and even how to learn, become of utmost importance.
We have set about reimagining a new kind of education for the 21st century student at Knightsbridge School (KS). What does this look like" Well, our pupils no longer sit at desks in rows silently studying books alone (you would be surprised how many parents still expect this). Our students are more likely to be working in collaborative groups, problem solving with shared resources, talking, listening, and developing each other?s ideas.
