Toby Roberts is the first Briton to win a lead World Cup medal in 28 years during the 2022 Ratho World Cup. He’s also now the first Briton to win a sensational gold medal in sport climbing in the Men’s Boulder at Paris 2024
Having taken his sport all the way to the top sport climber Toby Roberts’s  passion for the sport began at Edgeborough a co-educational prep school near Farnham. Still only 19, the teenager from Elstead in Surrey rose to senior fame when he became the first Brit to win a lead World Cup medal in 28 years during the 2022 Ratho World Cup. Not only that, he became the first British male climber to secure a place at the Olympics with victory at the 2023 European Qualifiers in Laval.

Picture: Edgeborough School Toby?s passion for climbing started at Edgeborough School when he went to a lunchtime club and tried the indoor climbing wall. Coached by father Tristan, Roberts trained on a wall in his Surrey back garden during the Covid lockdowns, specialising in boulder and lead climbing.
He competed in the men?s combined boulder and lead event which took place in Paris alongside 68 other athletes. It’s Team GB’s 14th gold medal at Paris 2024 – what an Olympic effort, Toby!
