Meet the Head: Reading Blue Coat School
As the new Headmaster at Reading Blue Coat School, Jesse Elzinga brings an admirable combination of both academic and extra-curricular excellence. He is excited to join Blue Coat, a school that focuses on each child and ensures they are successful both inside and outside the classroom.
Jesse?s own academic achievement as a cum laude graduate with a BA Honours degree in Comparative Religion from Harvard University, and an MSt from Oxford, where he was a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar, was a good grounding for his years as a Director of Studies at St Edward?s School in Oxford and then Harrow School, where he oversaw the best A-Level and GCSE results in the history of each school. ?Academic success is important to me?, Jesse says, ?and I look forward to driving Blue Coat forward in terms of results and scholarship?.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Jesse has enjoyed much success as a sportsman; whilst at Harvard, he captained Varsity Lightweight Rowing, twice winning the national championship in the eight; he is also a competitively able runner and cyclist. In many ways, Jesse is just as enthusiastic about the co-curricular life at Blue Coat as he is about the academic side.
