Milestone Moments: Pre-Prep School

Before starting school, children will have already had many milestone moments ? first word, first steps, first tooth and many more. The first day of Pre-Prep School arrives all too quickly, and from there, a series of wonderful challenges await.
Ahead of starting school, encourage your child to engage in creative play. Allow them to solve problems ? when they put their shoes on the wrong feet, see if they can they figure it out for themselves. Provide simple choices but limit them to two or three options. Rather than, ?What would you like to eat"? which is a crazy question to ask a pre-school child, offer two choices. Give your child opportunities to play games which involve taking turns and sharing, as well as role play. Encourage the use of full sentences. Avoid comments like, ?Mummy wants you to help,? and start to use, ?Please can you come and help me,?? and ?thank you.? Above, by the end of the first year, your child will be getting use to a routine at school encompassing not just lessons in the classroom but lots of outdoor play
