We catch up with the toy shop owner, model and mother-of-three to talk childhood toys and family life in the capital
Where do you live in London"
We live in West London, which I love for its ethnic diversity and amazing parks. The area I live in also has a mix of independent shops and galleries that make it more interesting than your average high street.
How has motherhood changed things for you"
When I had my first child, I was 24, so pretty young by modern standards. My world was turned upside down but it was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. Responsibility can have an amazing effect on people and really turn them into adults. As for the amount of love they bring ? it is quite overwhelming when you think about it. You opened your toy shop, Honeyjam, in Notting Hill 10 years ago this year. What inspired you to set up shop"Â
We opened Honeyjam because we felt shopping for toys had become uninspiring and all the flat box displays felt soulless. My business parter Honey and I both had fond childhood memories of toy shops overflowing with exciting toys and pocket-money treats, and we wanted to create somewhere where the actual toys had more play value than the box!
Do you have any favourite toys"
We have many favourites! Of course, our handmade limited-edition Merrythought bears are a classic. We also love A Girl for All Time dolls. They remind me of the porcelain dolls my granny ...
