New College of the Humanities Announces Courses in Creative Writing and Art History
New College of the Humanities (NCH) announces Art History ? as a major and a minor ? and Creative Writing as a minor for entry September 2016
Students looking to enter in 2016 will be able to choose from stimulating new combinations, including Art History with History BA, English with Creative Writing BA, and History with Art History BA as well as some unique options including Economics with Art History BSc.
Art History Major and Minor
The new Art History major and minor is aimed at giving students the opportunity to see and interpret moments in history through their architecture and material culture. The programme includes cultural surveys as well as more intense media-specific subjects, including architecture, landscape, painting and ceramics. For the Art History major, students will study three courses per year, ranging from cultural surveys, such as the study of The Art of the Islamic World, through to media-specific subjects, including Ceramics from Asia and Modern Architecture from 1851 to the Present.
They will further produce a dissertation as one of their three Art History courses in their final year.
Creative Writing as a Minor
The practice-based, three-year Creative Writing minor will cover creative writing in four literary forms: poetry, prose fiction, scriptwriting and creative non-fiction.
