Pupils at North Bridge House, North London have gone above and beyond to raise funds for Age UK’s Camden Resource Centre
Independent schools have quite the reputation for performing admirable charitable work and establishing outstanding community outreach projects ? and this is no more true than at North Bridge Pre-Prep, where pupils raised a spectacular £1,167.50 for the Age UK Camden resource centre, Henderson Court, at the end of last year.
An initiative led by the school’s PTA, Friends of North Bridge House, saw pupils designing and selling personalised Christmas cards in order to raise money. Each child created their own design, which was then loaded onto a template and printed with their name credited on the back.
Following the success of their card sales, the children enjoyed learning about how the money they raised would support the elderly at Henderson Court, funding workshops, activities, hot lunches and the invaluable sense of community, on which the more isolated heavily rely. This then enthused the children to do even more to support Age UK, and so they arranged a visit to Henderson Court to give a special choir performance, accompanied by the school’s Head of Music, Mr Jones, on the piano.
