The swim team at Northampton High School attained an impressive third place position at the National Independent Association of Prep Schools Competition
Northampton High School had never entered the IAPS Swimming Gala before, but still managed to scoop up a fantastic third place position at last week’s national finals.
The team, which consisted of Ellie Chinnock, Anna Johnson, Rebecca Lowe and Phoebe Haynes, had qualified for the final stage of the competition following success at the regional rounds at Stamford. They were determined to enjoy the event, but also improve on their qualifying positions.

The competition began with relay races, for which the girls qualified for the medley relay as the third fastest, improving their time in the final by just under 5 seconds. They were also lucky enough to receive medals from Olympic Silver Medallist, Michael Jamieson. Find out more about Northampton High School on our Schools Directory
Phoebe Haynes, who is the youngest member of the team from Year Six, also finished a fantastic third place in the butterfly, while Rebecca Lowe finished in second in the freestyle final.
Throughout the competition, the final placing accrued points, which totalled up to a final team position. And thanks to a great team effort from the Northampton High girls, the team finished third overall.
