Planning Christmas is a full-time job
As if we needed reminding?
Newflash, parents; planning all those festive celebrations is equivalent to just under two weeks of working in a full-time job ? £558 in wages" Don?t mind if we do!
According to a survey carried out by One4all, the Post Office gift card, the average Brit spends 66 hours and 40 minutes preparing for Christmas. Shopping for presents was the most time-consuming task, taking an average of 10 hours, 72 minutes and 12 seconds, followed by food and decoration shopping (eight hours, 49 minutes and 12 seconds).
Cooking was the task that adults spend the third largest amount of time on during the festive period, racking up seven hours, 35 minutes and 24 seconds in the kitchen on average. Women and men admit that they share the responsibilities fairly equally, but data revealed that the fairer sex dedicate more energy to the more practical tasks ? spending more time than our male counterparts shopping for food and gifts, cooking and doing laundry.
?It?s interesting to consider where this time is coming from ? whether people are taking annual leave during the festive period or simply being less productive in their day jobs to cover the almost two working weeks extra time they need to prepare,? admits Aoife Davey, group marketing manager at One4all.
