Florence Gardner and Charlie Creed, both 17, describe their roles as the first Heads of School at Ipswich High School in Woolverstone since it became co-educational
How did you feel when you heard you had been appointed to your posts"Â
Charlie: I was speechless. I was very excited, but we weren?t allowed to tell any of the other candidates until it was officially announced. I?d convinced myself that I wouldn?t be appointed being only one of five boys at a previously all-girls? school. Yet I still hoped I would be and was thrilled when I was told.
Florence: Honestly, I was so shocked but over the moon. There were lots of amazing candidates vying for the position, so I felt incredibly grateful to have been given the opportunity.
Who did you tell first"Â Florence: Funnily enough I told Charlie first. I don?t think either of us could hide our excitement, so we ended up telling each other first. I then called my mum and dad as
I don?t think they could have waited any longer to find out!
Charlie: I first told Florence. I hadn?t planned to, but she came up to me, visibly elated, and asked if I had been chosen as one of the Heads of School. Despite us not being supposed to tell the other candidates, I thought it was obvious she had as well, so I shared my news with her.
What will the role involve"Â
