Academic yet rounded.
Are you a team player"
My philosophy is that you perform best as an individual when part of a team. You wouldn?t be able to get to a high level in rowing without believing that.
What prize were you most proud of"
The ?most outstanding oarsman? trophy at the end of my Upper Sixth, because King?s boy, Toby Garnett (my idol at school), was awarded it in 2004 and he rowed in the 2008 Cambridge Blue Boat.
Were you an all-star sports captain or outside field lingerer"
In my first two years at King?s I was appalling at all sports. Highlights included the D team for football and rugby. Being six foot one at 13 meant rowing was the logical choice and I have rarely looked back, rowing for 15 consecutive terms in the senior school. We won national medals for four years running and I represented Great Britain in my Lower Sixth year. Rower Charles Fisher competed for the University of Cambridge in the Boat Race 2016
Did you customise your uniform"
No, I was on the other end of the scale. I had my top button done up even on the hottest of summer days.Â
