Serena Williams gets candid about not feeling like a good mom
Mom guilt is a complex cocktail of regret, worry and FOMO that afflicts most?if not all?moms at some point or another, and even being the world’s greatest tennis player doesn’t let you off the hook from those awful feelings. Yep, even the great Serena Williams has to deal with mom guilt just like everyone else.
In a recent Instagram post, Serena shared how, even though it’s been almost a year since she and her husband welcomed little Olympia into the world, the past week got her in a postpartum funk. “Mostly, I felt like I was not a good mom,” she wrote in the caption.
A lot of emotions can surface for moms postpartum, and finding ways to navigate them can be difficult. (Some of these emotions may be related to postpartum depression, but that’s not always the case.) Here’s where Serena reveals her not-so-secret secret: communication.
