Scholarships identify exceptional students, stretch their talents and provide further opportunities to broaden their educational horizons. Being a scholar at KGS is all about getting involved in the busy life of the school and making the most of every learning opportunity, both inside and outside the classroom. Our tailored scholarship programmes have been designed to encourage students to think in new ways and be challenged by a range of stimulating extracurricular activities.
As well as the more traditional academic, music, drama and sport scholarships, some schools now offer more diverse scholarship opportunities. KGS, for example, offers a Design & Technology scholarship to help encourage the designers and problem-solvers of the future. Mr Farr, our Head of DT, says, ?Students who are awarded a Design & Technology scholarship will understand how to think differently and how to problem solve.? For most schools, the scholarship application process has shifted its emphasis to assessing qualities such as initiative, critical analysis and leadership. Many, like KGS, utilise their scholarship interviews to explore a candidate?s passion for their subject, their ability to think independently and as a chance to explore whether the student has the resilience required to manage what is expected of them.
