St Margaret?s School Celebrates the Platinum Jubilee with Royal-Themed Fun
Students at St Margaret?s School in Bushey, have enjoyed a special day of celebrations in the lead up to the Queen?s Platinum Jubilee this week, as they prepare for the half term holidays. The off-timetable event saw the whole school take part in a raft of fun activities in honour of the Queen?s 70-year reign.Â
The staff and children kicked off the day with a whole-school, musical-themed assembly and every year group learned more about the history of the Queen. As well as a specially themed ‘street tea party’, with bunting, flags, afternoon tea and cakes, the children enjoyed a traditional charity fair and carousel, with themed games such as ?Pin the Tail on the Corgi? and ?Roll the Penny?. The children also created their own celebration cards to send to the Queen, and Year 3 took part in devising and setting up a Jewel in the Crown treasure hunt. Every student also designed their own crown or hat to wear to the street party as well as during a special Jubilee parade. This was all topped off with a fantastic ?Through the Ages? fashion show, celebrating the last 70 years looking at school uniform through the ages.Â
Julie Chatkiewicz, Vice Principal at St Margaret?s School commented, “All involved had a memorable day. As a school we have not been able to host anything on that scale for a long time, so it was wonderful to see the whole community coming together again.”Â
