The most popular baby names in England and Wales are in?and this royal came out on top
Some shocking baby name news has just come out. Amelia is no longer the most popular baby girl name in England and Wales. Let?s take a moment and let that sink in. The moniker that has reigned supreme for the last five years, has been booted out of the top spot.
The new number 1" Data shows that in 2016 Olivia was the most popular name for girls in England and Wales, with Amelia coming in second. Oliver, for the fourth year in a row, is the the most popular boy name.
So how do the top baby names in England and Wales stack up in Canada" It?s not so wildly different: the top names here in 2016 were Liam and Emma, but Olivia came in second and Oliver came in eighth place.
Now we can?t deny that Prince George and Princess Charlotte are beyond cute, but are they influencing baby names" George jumped one spot this year to be the third most popular baby name, and Charlotte nabbed the 12th spot. (Her second cousins Isla and Mia have more popular names, coming in at number four and number 10 respectively).
But it?s actually Uncle Harry who seems to have the most baby name influence. Harry is now the second most popular boy’s name. Sorry, William but Harry definitely has you beat here?your name fell out of the top 10 is now number 11.
