The Prebendal School Pre-Prep is committed to providing unrivalled outdoor learning opportunities by integrating regular Beach School lessons into our curriculum. EYFS children attend Beach School sessions weekly and KS1 fortnightly. The school has invested in professional development for staff to ensure quality first teaching.
We are conscious of the fact that sometimes, in schools, children are not comfortable to take risks and overly rely on adult input. Within boundaries, children have the freedom to manage their own risks when completing activities such as building fires, making shelters and rock pooling. At Prebendal, we believe strongly that there are links between the amount of risk a child is exposed to and their level of self-confidence. Outdoor activities will always involve some level of risk, but that the risk is greatly outweighed by the health and development benefits. Character is built through facing risk, building self-reliance and resilience as, ultimately, learning to deal with risk and challenge is an essential part of life.
