You may be feeling a little anxious about your child starting boarding school for the first time, but it’s more likely that your young ones will not being having any of these preconceived ideas. So, how can you ensure they start this exciting new chapter in their school life, full of excitement and enthusiasm"
New beginnings
Three weeks before your child starts their new school, discussing the adventure they have ahead will be immensely helpful. Invite friends and relations to share their own fun boarding experiences, and introduce books that portray boarding in a positive manner, like Harry Potter. While they won?t be flying around on a Nimbus 2000, this should certainly build their excitement! Browsing the school website and discuss everything that is on offer is very worthwhile ? some schools even provide handbooks for new pupils. You may also have been sent a list of extra-curricular activities on offer, so see which of these your child might be interested in. Perhaps they will want to learn a musical instrument, judo, sailing, or maybe even a new language! The options are endless.
Friendly faces
It might be wise to meet up with a couple of the other new boys and girls prior to starting school, so your child (and you) will recognise a friendly face on the first day.
