What every single American can do to fight against gun violence
It’s the 15th of February and there have already been 18 school shootings this year in America. That statistic alone should take your breath away, but then there’s the sheer horror of what happened yesterday in Lakeland, Florida, where a teenage shooter killed at least 17 people, and injured many, many more.
Obviously, there are politicians and celebrities tweeting their thoughts and prayers, but what really needs to happen?and honestly, this sounds like a broken record?is change. Change in law, change in policies, change in what our elected officials are voting for, and who they are supporting.
If you, like so many citizens (whether or not you are a parent) feel angry, helpless or devastated, it’s as vital as ever to dry your tears and get to work. There’s much you can do. Here are some ways to help enact change.
