The rhetoric and passions around Brexit can still be quite deafening, even if they?ve taken a back seat in the election campaign so far. But the debates about education have missed the unmistakable truth that their future will be global.
I hope that whoever forms the new government takes a global perspective to education reform and preparing young people for a changing world. Today?s young people are more likely than any previous generation to live and work in South-East Asia rather than South-East England, in Dubai rather than Dublin. We need to be preparing them for their future.  Many schools, both state and independent, ?get? it.. Our young people certainly ?get it? and they will be happy to explain the imperative of international citizenship to our politicians"
A quiet revolution has been taking place. Every year, there are hundreds of new international partnerships being established by UK schools, some commercial, some philanthropic, some simply based on good will.Â
Schools are providing bridges of understanding to counter walls of prejudice and ignorance. Across continents, teachers, school leaders, school communities and children are learning with and from each other. We need much more of it.
