Edgeborough School: Meet Alfie Griffiths, Winner of the Rising Stard Award 2021
Alfie Griffiths, former pupil of Edgeborough School and current student of Bryanston, won the Rising Star award at our Independent School of the Year Awards 2021. Here?s how he bagged the title out of over 700 entrants.
As the youngest exhibitor at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Alfie is a very talented artist and passionate about the subject, with a wealth of experience for someone of such a young age. Starting off his career so strongly at Edgeborough School. he has a very exciting future ahead. It’s very rare to find a pupil with such experience and talent for his age, yet so humble about his ability.
How Alfie Griffiths from Edgeborough School won the Rising Star award
At less than 10 years old, Alfie was already starting to make an impact with his art. At age nine, in 2018, Alfie won the local art competition at Farnham Maltings with large beetle collages. The following year at age 10, Alfie had a set of six portraits exhibited in Farnham Station Gallery. That same year in 2019, Alfie was awarded an internal Art Scholarship at Edgeborough School, making him an Ambassador of Art.
Going national
In 2020, Alfie had two artworks selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (1000 artworks were chosen from 14,000 entries). To date he is the youngest exhibitor at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
Later that year, Alfie was featured in the BBC documentary ‘Sale of Painting’. Alfie also had 2 artworks accepted for the first Young Roy...
