We speak to Russell Slatford, Headteacher of Bournemouth Collegiate School, to find out a little bit more about the school’s core values and preparing pupils for the next stage in their lives.
How long have you been at the school"
I have been at Bournemouth Collegiate School for just over 5 years, having moved from being Second Master at Reading Blue Coat School.
It has been a wonderful journey; we have seen academic standards improving year on year with recording-breaking results at both GCSE and A level, nominations in national awards in sport, performing arts and environmental in the last few years and strong and dynamic partnerships with all our local universities.
Can you tell us a little bit about the history of Bournemouth Collegiate School" BCS is one school, two sites. We have a Prep school in Poole and Senior School just outside Bournemouth. Both sites have existed as schools since 1890 and merged in 2008 to become Bournemouth Collegiate School.
Both schools sit at the heart of their communities and have traditional and beautiful settings, the senior being one of the few schools with beach access. Since the merger, the school has seen significant growth and now has over 640 pupils, aged 2-18, including 80 boarders from more than 20 different countries.
