Meet the Head: Mr L Balerdi, L?Ecole de Battersea
Meet the Head of L’Ecole de Battersea, Mr L Balerdi. Here, he shares how he got to where he is today, the school’s history and reveals its plans for the future
1.How long have you been at the school"
I stepped into the incredible world of L?Ecole des Petits, our sister pre-prep school in Fulham, back in 2002. And as if one school wasn’t enough, I’ve been on board at L?Ecole de Battersea since the very day it spread its wings in 2005! So you could say I’ve been weaving the tapestry of bilingual education for quite a thrilling ride.
2. What was your path to becoming a headteacher"
In 2005, our school’s visionary and proprietor, Mme Otten, invited me to join the extraordinary mission of launching L?Ecole de Battersea, a unique bilingual primary school. From teacher to project collaborator, my role evolved. By 2014, I officially became Headmaster. Today, I bring boundless energy, experience, and an unwavering love for bilingual education to our unique community at L?Ecole de Battersea. I am truly happy and proud to be part of the team who leads such an outstanding school.
3. What’s the most surprising thing that people may not know about you"
Surprisingly, not many know that my journey into teaching began at the age of 10, inspired by my year six teacher. The interesting part" My role model was the definition of ‘old-school cool.’ Picture this: a work smock, airborne chalk, and a strict vibe. Fast forward...
