Meet the Head: Parsons Green Prep
We speak to Matthew Faulkner, Headmaster of Parsons Green Prep, to find out more about the school’s history and how they prepare children for the next stage in their school career.
How long have you been at the school"
I have been at Parsons Green Prep since September 2019, having spent the previous four years at Summer Fields in Oxford.
Can you tell us a little bit about the history of the school"
The school?s founder, Lucinda Waring, owned four popular Montessori nurseries and the natural progression was to open a prep school. Her vision was to have a London school with space both inside and out for the children. She found our amazing site in 2001. The school started with a nursery and a Reception class which grew organically to Year 6. Although we still have enviable outside space, the size of the square footage has doubled. Architects are visiting this half-term to move forward our exciting plans, which will be completed next year ready for September 2022.
What do you believe your school does particularly well"
Visitors are struck by the vibrancy, modern approach and space at our school. Pastoral care is as important as academic rigour and there is a real sense of purpose towards learning within the school. The key part of our educational offering is our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Maths) programme, with chess running throughout the school.
