Founded in 1840, Eton Boat Club is one of the most famous in The UK. It has the largest number of members and boats of any other rowing club in the world. Rowing activities take place at the Rowing Centre at Dorney Lake as well as on the three stretches of the River Thames that surround the school. The team has had significant success is various competitions, including a record 18 wins at the National Schools’ Regatta and won the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Henley Regatta a record 15 times.
Eton Dorney Lake was constructed in 2006, which features an eight-lane 2000-meter course in a 400-acre park. The venue provided training facilities for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games and also hosted the competitions. It was voted the best 2012 Olympic venue by spectators.
