Whilst taking in the surroundings and facilities on offer, there may be many questions running through your mind on a school open day. Next steps after school may seem a long way off, especially if your child is joining the youngest year group within a school. It is an incredibly important question to ask to highlight to you the range of higher education options that your child will be supported to achieve. Do they match your own or your child?s ambitions" Do they leave your child room to change their mind" Some schools will have quite a narrow focus, perhaps preparing pupils for only the most prestigious universities or courses. Other schools may have a more measured approach, preparing each individual for the next step that is right for them, whether that is university, an apprenticeship or vocational course, the military or something else entirely. Consider your child?s personality and aspirations, find a school that has evidence of supporting other pupils to achieve similar goals. How do you ensure your pupils reach their potential"
