What we know about the Oxford Cambridge Boat Race 2022
This year, the globally-renowned Oxford Cambridge Boat Race is known as The Gemini Boat Race with this year marking the 167th Men’s Boat Race and the 76th Women’s Boat Race, making this prestigous sporting event one of the oldest in the world. This year’s races are particularly special, as they return to the River Thames in London, after being totally cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic and being held in Ely on the River Ouse without spectators due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions in 2021.
The race will begin this Sunday 3rd April, with the women’s race at 14:23 BST and the men’s at 15:23.
Oxford Cambridge Boat Race teams will follow the 4 mile route of The Championship Course between Putney and Mortlake on the River Thames, which has been the same since 1845.
