1. Totally Thames
This month-long festival of arts and culture features a host of regattas, river races and environmental activities on the 42-mile stretch of the Thames.

2. Construction Challenge
This summer, pop along to the National Army Museum to have a go at its Construction Challenge, using special wooden boards to create a structure that won’t topple over. This workshop is suitable for children aged eight years and over, but there are plenty of other activities for younger members to enjoy, too. When: Until Sunday 3 September, 10.15am to 4pm

3. Horrible Histories: More Best of Barmy Britain
This summer, the Birmingham Stage Company takes over the West End’s Garrick Theatre for more Horrible Histories live on stage. More Best of Barmy Britain will include all the best bits from previous years, plus a brand new scene about Shakespeare. So if your little one loves history, pop along and find out why the Romans were revolting, whether you could survive the vicious Vikings, whether evil Elizabeth can entertain England and more!
