Harry Charles clinched a gold medal at the Château de Versailles in Paris 2024 in the same event as his father Peter did in London 2012.
Alongside Ben Maher and Scott Brash, who also were part of the London 2012 equestrian team, the trio won the team jumping final on Friday. In securing the gold, the father and son become the first duo since rowers Dickie and Charles Burnell in 1948 and 1908 to win an Olympic title. The 25-year-old Olympian who attended Churcher’s College in Hampshire told BBC Sport:
“I cannot believe it, last time we won gold these two boys were there with my dad. They have been heroes of mine and to be up next to them on the podium is unbelievable.” Churcher’s College is a co-educational independent school which celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2022. According to its website, it was established in 1722 with a generous bequest of £3,000 from Richard Churcher  to provide an education for 10 or 12 boys from Petersfield in the arts of writing, arithmetic and the mathematics of navigation.
