5 easy tips for getting through your baby's first cold

This holiday season was a busy one. Baby Liam, just 5 months old, was along for the ride.
Even though people washed their hands before holding him, there are always so many bugs going around. It's no surprise that the day after Christmas, he woke up coughing with a runny nose. Since he is still so little, it can be concerning as a parent. Listening to your 5-month-old cough in misery might be one of the hardest things ever. You just want to take away their pain.
The minute he woke up with a cough, I called the doctor. I wasn't sure what exactly I could give him or things to soothe him since he's so young. I was assured he just had a common cold and to not worry, just let him get as much rest as possible. Whenever any of my kids is sick, I get so paranoid and worried...it never seems to get easier. I really try to avoid medications as much as possible and use home remedies, especially since Liam is so little. If there's a fever, Tylenol helps in moderation.
To help Liam sleep, I got a Vicks vaporizer with Vapor Pads. I let it run in his room while he's sleeping and it really helps his cough. One vapor pad lasted over 40 hours for us!
