5 things I did (like buy a minivan) because of my online mom group

I have a serious problem.
I'm addicted to my Facebook mom group. I absolutely love reading all of the problems and triumphs of these women I don't actually know. Even though my kids are older and I don't need the group?I need the group. Some of the moms are straight up drama and it's like peeking behind a curtain into their lives. And that's always fun. But mostly, it's the advice I treasure.
I love having 9,000 experienced moms at my fingertips. Here are five things I did (or didn't) do because of advice from my Facebook mom group.
I bought a van.
I was on the fence about the whole van thing. When I started looking I was so overwhelmed. Naturally, I reached out for help with a little OT post. These wonderful, amazing mamas told me all of their likes and dislikes about their vans. They brought up so many things I hadn't even considered?the placement of cup holders, car seat arrangements, and benefits during long road trips. Hearing their enthusiasm and unashamed love for their mom vans endeared me to my people even more. Yeah, we know minivans aren't cool, but we sure are happy and comfortable.
I kept breastfeeding.
I wanted to quit so many times with my first and I needed a lot of encouragement. I also needed advice on how to increase my milk supply. My group was there with suggestions that actually worked. I'm pretty sure I would have given up without their guidance and support.
I took away the pacifiers and bottles early.
