Claire's pulls children's makeup from shelves amid asbestos concerns

If you have a child who received a makeup kit this holiday season ? or if you happened to gift a set to another child ? you definitely need to be aware of this potential safety concern.
Claire's has pulled 17 products off its shelves after a Barrington, R.I., family reportedly discovered asbestos in their 6-year-old daughter's makeup. WJAR-TV reports that the child's mother, Kristi Warner, was concerned about the ingredients in her daughter's glitter makeup kit, which was purchased at a Claire's store at a local mall. Warner mailed the makeup to an independent lab in North Carolina, where test results revealed tremolite asbestos ? a material associated with a deadly form of cancer. Seventeen more makeup products from Claire's from nine different states were then purchased and tested, reportedly revealing tremolite asbestos in every single one.
"I physically sank. I ended up sitting on the ground, just trying to wrap my head around how something like that could end up in our home," Warner told WJAR-TV. "You just assume that a children's product would be safe."
