The wait is over! Four days after the arrival of Prince William and Duchess Kate's third child, we now know what the littlest Prince will be called.
The royal baby name news came today via a Tweet from Kensington Palace: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son Louis Arthur Charles. The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge."
Kate and William's baby name pick carries extensive royal credentials, but it does come as somewhat of a surprise. Baby name betting - yes, that actually happens - had odds on either Albert, Arthur or James being the couple's pick.
If Louis (that's 'Lou-ee,' by the way, not 'Lewis') sounds a bit familiar, it could be because it is shared by Kate and William's oldest son, whose full name is George Alexander Louis. Prince Louis joins big sister Charlotte Elizabeth Diana as well. It may seem strange, giving the same name to two sons, but according to royal watchers it's actually not all that unusual. "While she was alive, Queen Victoria wanted all her male descendants to have Albert included in their boys' names," Majesty magazine's editor Joe Little tells PEOPLE. "Using Louis twice would have been the couple?s choice ? they clearly regard it as a nice name."
