When I first saw images of a pregnant woman covered in bees, I thought, "What the heck"" But once I talked to Emily Mueller, a beekeeper, and the mom in the photos, I came to understand that there is far more to this story than meets the eye.

Emily meanwhile shared another goal of this unique maternity photo shoot: "This was my opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of honey bees as well as their docile behavior. In addition, I spiritually represented the love I had for my children and the blessings from my father." Having recently suffered a pregnancy loss myself, my ultimate takeaway from this special shoot is that, while it might not be for everyone, whatever brings you peace, meaning, and hope amid crushing grief, is beautiful.
