BabyCenter's top 100 baby names of 2017 just been released! Check out what's newly hot, and what's most recently not.
While some longtime faves are hanging on tight to the top, there are some newbies sneaking up from the bottom of the top 100.
As far as the top 5 hottest of the hot, there's a new name on the girl's list: Isabella jumped a spot from #6 to #5, kicking Mia out of the top 5. The boy's top 5 is similar to 2016's list, but some names are rising and some falling. Jackson still holds down the top spot, but Aiden has fallen from #2 to #4, basically switching places with Liam, which surged from #4 to #2. Noah also made a jump, from #5 to #2, while Lucas dropped from #3 to #5.
And while the top 5 may not have changed much over the last two years, the lower 95 have seen more drastic changes. Here are the biggest movers of the last year.
If you're looking to gauge future name trends, the most accurate barometer may be to check out those breaking into the top 100. In 2014, we saw a big spike in gender-neutral names. Our 2017 list shows this trend might be starting to fizzle out. Comparing 2017's top 100 with the list for 2016, most of the newbies on the list seem more gender-specific: Serenity, Naomi, and Jasmine for girls; Maverick, Ezekiel, Xander, and Jameson for boys.
Stay tuned for more 2017 name trends to be posted later today!
