There's a trifecta of moon happenings occurring January 31, which some believe may create a spike in births. But before those of you who are due soon get too excited it's about to be go-time, let's take a look at the facts.
On Wednesday we'll experience a "super blue blood moon." As Space.com explains it:
"This spectacular lunar event...features the second full moon of the month, also known as a Blue Moon, as well as a total lunar eclipse, which is often referred to as a 'blood moon' because the moon turns a reddish color when it passes through Earth's shadow. To round out the lunar trifecta, the moon will also be at its closest point to Earth in its orbit, making it a supermoon." Members of the BabyCenter Community are wondering if this lunar trifecta will kickstart their labors, but despite there being all kinds of superstitions from various cultures surrounding the moon, historical data says that's just not how things work.
Numerous studies have looked for a link between birthrate and lunar full moons with no convincing results.
